Lincoln Logo

Dear Lincoln School Community,

I hope that you had a wonderful week! We have a number of fun events planned for the upcoming week. On Tuesday, January 17th, our Fifth Grade Lincoln School Advanced Band members will perform their first instrumental concert of the year. Students in grades K-3 will attend the 10:00 am performance, and parents and guests along with our students in grades 4 and 5 will attend the 2:00 pm performance. On Thursday evening, our annual PTO Military Bridge event will take place in the Lincoln School gym. I look forward to seeing many of our parents in attendance, and thank the PTO in advance for their hard work in organizing this evening. Finally, on Friday, we welcome the esteemed group “Young Lions,” who will perform a traditional Lunar New Year Lion Dance assembly for our entire student body. We can’t wait for this exciting event!

Throughout the week of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, Lincoln School will be collecting donations for “Pawsitively Furever Dog Rescue.” Donations may be dropped off beginning on Monday, January 16th in the main office vestibule or in students’ classrooms. Thank you in advance for supporting our furry friends! Click here for the list of requested items.

Please be sure to check out the brochure in the Friday Folder for the “Wyckoff Connected Parent Series” offerings. There are a number of workshops and events for parents throughout the remainder of the school year. It may be accessed by clicking here.

Save the date! The Wyckoff Education Foundation’s annual Casino Night will be held on March 2nd from 7-11 pm at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne. Please consider joining the community for a fun and memorable evening of dinner, cocktails, a silent auction, and dancing. The Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) raises funds that support the educational mission of each of the five Wyckoff schools. Please click here for the flyer, and to order pre-sale tickets. I look forward to seeing many of our Lincoln families there!

As a reminder, please be mindful when walking through the parking lot, particularly during morning drop-off. Please use the crosswalk, as cars have difficulty seeing pedestrians when making the turn by the playground. Additionally, I ask that you kindly park if your child requires assistance with his/her backpack or other items that necessitates you getting out of the car to provide help. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and efficient parking lot.

Please note that all schools will be closed on Monday, January 16th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day.  As we commemorate the life of Dr. King, I reflect upon a quote of his that reads:  “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.”  Thank you for partnering with our staff as we work each day towards this goal, and for your continued support and collaboration.  Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Giants!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
