Dear Parents/Guardians,

Student Council is hard at work!!  Student Council will again be hosting the “Golden Pencil” fundraiser next week to help purchase gifts for a needy child this holiday season. Please click here for more info!  Finally, on Wednesday, our Student Council will be hosting our traditional “Comfy and Cozy Clothing Day” to kick off the Thanksgiving Day weekend! Students may wear any comfortable or cozy clothing on that day. We will also hold a monthly Schoolwide Morning Meeting in the gym, centered around the theme of “Gratitude.”

Yesterday, our 5th graders enjoyed a visit from former New York Giant tight end Rhett Ellison, a Wyckoff resident. Mr. Ellison was interviewed by several students as part of our “Lion’s Den” production, a student-led video series that is shared approximately once a month, and also took a number of questions from the student audience. The interview was recorded and will be released soon, so stay tuned. Mr. Ellison commented on the insightful questions and maturity of our 5th graders, who were excellent hosts and representatives of Lincoln School.

Thank you to our parents and teachers for a successful round of Parent/Teacher Conferences this week.  Communication between school and home is vital to each student’s success, and I appreciate your flexibility as we adjusted the calendar to provide time for our staff to meet with you and discuss your child’s progress.  Please know that you can always reach out to our staff or to me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress here at Lincoln School.

As a reminder, as we head into the season of cold weather, please be aware that we will attempt to keep students outside for morning line up and recess as often as possible, even when temperatures are just above freezing. Children benefit from outdoor exercise and fresh air, and this is particularly important during the winter months when they are frequently indoors.  Please ensure that students come to school on cold days with long pants, jackets, and hats/gloves as needed.

Please note that Wednesday, November 23rd is a minimum day, with a 1:05 dismissal.  Kindergarten students will have lunch, as they do on all minimum days.  Note that pizza will not be served this Wednesday, so please be sure to pack a lunch for your Kindergarteners.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
