Dear Parents/Guardians,

We had a wonderful afternoon after school today as our PTO hosted our annual “Lincoln School Fall Festival!” It was a terrific opportunity to come together as a community for fall-themed games, activities, snacks, an amazing pumpkin raffle, a petting zoo, and most importantly lots of fun. Thank you to our Fall Festival chairs, Mrs. Fry and Mrs. McCloskey, as well as the countless PTO and middle school volunteers that supported the event, ran the games and activities, and helped to make the Fall Festival possible.

This past Wednesday and Thursday, our students had the chance to visit our Fall Book Fair. Our students truly enjoyed picking out books and sharing them with their classmates and families. I welcome any opportunity to encourage a love of reading in our students and get them excited to open a brand new book. I would like to thank our PTO, including our chairs Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Hawkinson, as well as our many parent volunteers, for another widely successful Fall Book Fair!

Speaking of new books…. Our Little Free Library is up and running at Lincoln School! Located adjacent to the Kindergarten playground by the front sidewalk, the Little Free Library encourages students to give a book, take a book, and share a book that they enjoy with the community. Feel free to use the Little Free Library and spread the joy of reading.

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd and Wednesday, November 16th from 1:45 - 7:40 pm. As in previous years, we will be scheduling conferences electronically. You should have already received an email with a link for electronic scheduling.  If you have not already scheduled a Parent/Teacher Conference with your child’s teacher, please contact the teacher as soon as possible via email to schedule. These two days will be minimum days for students, with a 1:05 pm dismissal.

Thank you to Sgt. Zivkovich and Officer Oldweurtel from the Wyckoff Police Department who came to Lincoln School this past week to interact with our students at recess, as part of the NJ Violence and Vandalism Awareness Week. We truly value and appreciate our public servants in Wyckoff, and thank them for keeping our community safe.

Our Halloween parade will be held on Monday, October 31st, at 2:30 pm. Parts of the costume that can be safely worn, and allow students to engage in learning, participate in recess/PE, and use the restroom, may be worn to school in the morning. Other costume attachments and accessories, or costumes that cannot be easily and comfortably worn throughout the day, should be brought in a bag and students may change prior to the parade. Please be mindful of appropriate and safe costumes, and note that toy guns, knives, weapons, etc., are not permitted. We hope you can join us for this fun tradition here at Lincoln School!

The photographer from Rod Bolton  will be back at Lincoln School on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00 am to retake pictures of those children who were absent, who are new to the District, whose eyes are closed, who had hair in their face for the photo, or for those who personally contacted the photographer requesting a retake.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
