Dear Parents/Guardians,
At our schoolwide morning meeting last Friday, we unveiled that we have our own Little Free Library coming to Lincoln School! Little Free Library is a global community of book access for all. Our library will be placed outside near our Kindergarten playground, adjacent to the front walkway. The mission of Little Free Libraries around the world is to build community and inspire readers. Our Lincoln Little Free Library will be available for years to come! Anyone may take a book- neighbors, friends, Lincoln Lions, and passersby. In addition, anyone may share a book. We have been talking to students about the purpose of our Little Free Library, and communicating to the whole school about sharing a loved favorite book they might be saying goodbye to as it travels to a new home, or finding a new favorite that made its journey to our Little Free Library. Visitors to our library are free to take a book, donate a book, or both! Please look next week for our new Lincoln Little Free Library. We would like to extend a thank you to our amazing PTO for supporting this!
Please join us next Friday after school at Lincoln School for our annual Fall Festival. This fun and free event, featuring games, fall activities, a petting zoo and a pumpkin sale, is a terrific way to come together as a school community and enjoy the start to the weekend. Thank you to our PTO for funding and organizing our Fall Festival! We hope to see you there!
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd and Wednesday, November 16th from 1:45 - 7:40 pm. As in previous years, we will be scheduling conferences electronically. Each classroom teacher will send a link to parents which will enable them to access an online scheduling system. The link will be sent by each classroom teacher after school on Tuesday, October 18th at 3:30 pm. Please note that we cannot accommodate requests for all time slots, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we look to meet with each parent during these conference days. These two days will be minimum days for students, with a 1:05 pm dismissal.
Our Halloween parade will be held on Monday, October 31st, at 2:30 pm. Parts of the costume that can be safely worn, and allow students to engage in learning, participate in recess/PE, and use the restroom, may be worn to school in the morning. Other costume attachments and accessories, or costumes that cannot be easily and comfortably worn throughout the day, should be brought in a bag and students may change prior to the parade. Please be mindful of appropriate and safe costumes, and note that toy guns, knives, weapons, etc., are not permitted. We hope you can join us for this fun tradition here at Lincoln School!
The photographer from Rod Bolton will be back at Lincoln School on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00 am to retake pictures of those children who were absent, who are new to the District, whose eyes are closed, who had hair in their face for the photo, or for those who personally contacted the photographer requesting a retake.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
