Lincoln Logo

Dear Lincoln School Community,

Today, we came together in the Lincoln School gymnasium for our monthly Schoolwide Morning Meeting. We played a memory picture game, recognized those who sacrificed for our country in honor of Memorial Day, and celebrated two grade levels who have engaged in service projects this year. Specifically, we recognized our 5th grade for raising over $1,300 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with their Ice Cream Fundraiser in April, and our 3rd grade for raising $1,500 for Families4Families, creating “birthday bags” for children in need. These are wonderful examples of students working together to benefit their local community. I’m very proud of all of our Lincoln Lions for these tremendous accomplishments!

This past week, our 5th grade celebrated the culmination of their elementary school careers with a wonderful class trip to Spring Lake Day Camp in Ringwood, NJ. They had an amazing time coming together as a class for a day of fun in the sun, enjoying activities such as zip lining, paddle boats, basketball, tennis, arts & crafts, rock climbing, swimming, gaga ball, and much, much more. I was even able to join in the fun, and may have zip lined a few times! Thank you to our 5th grade trip chairs, Mrs. Hagy and Mrs. Madigan, for planning such a terrific experience, our PTO for their generous support of the trip, our staff for their supervision and participation in the day, and our 5th graders for being such awesome representatives of Lincoln School!

Thank you to PTO chairs Mrs. Bahadurian, Mrs. McGuire, and Mrs. Worth, all of our parent volunteers, our 3rd and 4th grade teachers and staff, and the Wyckoff Police Department for organizing and leading this year’s Bike Safety Assembly and obstacle course, as well the Spring Bike & Walk to School Day. It was a terrific day of learning how to bike safely as we approach the summer months.

Congratulations to our Fifth Grade students on their amazing production of the musical Annie!  Our entire student body was treated yesterday to a matinee show at 2:00 pm, with family and friends joining us later for the evening performance. Special thanks goes out to our music teacher, Mrs. Panzitta, for her tremendous work in preparing our students for the show. Thank you also to Mrs. Matarazzo, our parent liaison, our parent volunteers for assisting with costumes and make-up, and our 5th grade teachers and other staff that supported the production.

Next Friday, Lincoln School will hold its annual Theme Day! This is a full day of assemblies, activities, and interactive presentations, all centered around this year's theme, "Better Together.” We can’t wait for this special and memorable day!

As the end of the school year is rapidly approaching, we are busy inventorying our Media Center. Mrs. Husstege and I ask that all library books are returned by Monday, June 5th. Please contact Mrs. Husstege with any questions. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please note that our 4th and 5th grade spring Instrumental Band Concert will be on Tuesday, June 6th at 2:00 pm for students and 7:00 pm for parents and guests. The performances will be held in the school gymnasium.  We hope to see you there!  Please click here to view the flyer.

Please note that all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day.

Finally, on this Memorial Day weekend, I would like to express my gratitude for all of the servicemen and servicewomen who so bravely gave their lives in defense of our freedom. As we celebrate the long weekend with family and friends, let us remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
