Dear Lincoln School Community,
Today, our 4th graders enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Waterloo Village, a 19th century restored village that covers the time from a 400-year old Lenape Native American homestead to the era of commerce that once existed along the Morris Canal. Students, teachers, and chaperones enjoyed seeing the many natural and historic treasures of Waterloo Village, and were excited to share all that they learned when they returned to school at the end of the day. Thank you to our staff and parent chaperones for leading the trip!
Yesterday, representatives from both the 4th and 5th grades squared off in our annual “Battle of the Books” competition! In a close and well-fought “Battle,” our 5th graders emerged victorious, with our 4th graders demonstrating a truly valiant effort. I must say, it was one of the most impressive “Battle of the Books” events to date, with both teams correctly answering the vast majority of the questions. Congratulations to all participants, from team members to score keepers, and a huge thank you to Mrs. Husstege for her hard work in preparing students and coordinating the event. Great job readers!
This week concluded the NJSLA testing for students in grades 3 through 5. I’m proud of each student for trying his/her personal best. Makeups will continue this coming week for students who were absent for any portion of the assessment.
The spring "Bike and Walk to School Day" for all students and the annual "Bike Safety Rally" for grades 3 and 4 are both scheduled for Monday, May 22nd. Please be sure that your child's bicycle is in good working order and that they have a well-fitting helmet. There will be a series of obstacle course stations for our 3rd and 4th graders in addition to a safety assembly from several Wyckoff Police Officers.
We look forward to seeing many of our families at the 5th grade’s production of the musical Annie on Thursday, May 25th. The matinee for students will be held at 2:00 pm, and the evening show for families and guests will be held at 7:00 pm in the Lincoln School gymnasium. In addition, our 4th and 5th grade Spring Instrumental Band Concert will be held on Tuesday, June 6th. Performances of the Spring Instrumental Band Concert will also be at 2:00 pm for students and 7:00 pm for guests.
Thank you to all the Lincoln Ladies for their attendance at our annual “PTO Ladies Night Out” this past Thursday night, as well as our PTO chairs and volunteers for their hard work. I am grateful to all of our parents and community members for your continued support of our school.

As a reminder, at the most recent Board of Education meeting, the Board revised the student calendar due to the two unused snow days. As a result, the last day of school for students will now be on Tuesday, June 20th. This will be a minimum day for students. The 5th Grade Farewell and 5th Grade Clapout will also now be held on Tuesday, June 20th. The 5th Grade Memory Book Breakfast will be held on Monday, June 19th.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
