Lincoln School

Dear Lincoln School Community,

Today, our 3rd grade classes had a wonderful time exploring Turtleback Zoo! They enjoyed seeing a wide array of exciting animals, learning about a variety of habitats and ecosystems, and celebrating time together as a grade level. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and chaperones for leading the trip!

Thank you to all who came out this afternoon to the Lincoln Community Peace Garden’s 5th Annual “Spring Planting.” We had a great turnout of students across different grade levels who planted a variety of vegetables and herbs to enhance our garden! Thank you to Mrs. Bouloukos and our parent volunteers for their tremendous work in getting the garden up and running.

Students in grades 3, 4 & 5 will be taking the NJSLA, the New Jersey Standardized Learning Assessment, beginning on Tuesday, May 9th.  The assessment will begin at the very start of the day, so please try to ensure that your son or daughter is at school on time during testing.  The assessments, which include Language Arts Literacy and Mathematics, last between 60 and 90 minutes each morning.  Here are a few helpful hints for a successful assessment experience:

  • Make sure your child gets ample sleep the night before the assessment.

  • Provide a nutritious breakfast each morning.

  • Emphasize that your child should try to relax during the test and just do his/her very best.

  • Suggest that your child go back to double check answers prior to submitting the test, and take his/her time on the assessment.

The testing schedule will be as follows:

English Language Arts (Grades 3-5) - May 9th-10th
Science (Grade 5 only) - May 11th-12th
Mathematics (Grades 3-5) - May 16th-18th

Please note that our Kindergarten Sibling preview, for the siblings of all current Lincoln students who are registered to attend Kindergarten during the 2023-2024 school year, will be held on the morning of Friday, May 19th.  A letter was emailed early in the week with the exact times assigned.  If you have not received an email, please contact Mrs. DiMeglio at 201-848-5720 or mdimeglio@wyckoffschools.org

On Tuesday, May 9th, Eisenhower Middle School will host a parent presentation by Jack Berckemeyer - author, speaker, and humorist. Mr. Berckmeyer will be speaking on the topic of “Understanding Adolescents.”  Please click here to view the flyer.

On Thursday, May 11th, Lincoln School will host a “Spring Art Show” from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  We hope to see you there!

Finally, please note that at the most recent Board of Education meeting, the Board revised the student calendar due to the two unused snow days. As a result, the last day of school for students will now be on Tuesday, June 20th. This will be a minimum day for students. The 5th Grade Farewell and 5th Grade Clapout will also now be held on Tuesday, June 20th. Any other adjustments to events in the final week of school will be communicated shortly.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
