Dear Lincoln School Community,

This past Wednesday, our 3rd and 4th grade students put on a terrific concert to usher in the spring season. A combination of recorder-playing by our 3rd graders, select renditions by our 4th Grade Chorus, and songs by all students in both grade levels, led to not just one, but two amazing performances. A huge thank you to Mrs. Panzitta for directing our talented students.

Thank you to all of the students, parents and teachers that joined us for last night’s “Lincoln School Family Makerspace Night!” Those in attendance enjoyed playing and learning with everything from robots to LEGOS, and airplane gliders to coding. We had a great turnout, and look forward to additional opportunities to share our Makerspace work with the community. Thank you to Mr. Patanella for planning and organizing this fun event!

This afternoon, we held our first ever “Schoolwide Closing Circle” to end both the week and the “Lincoln Loves Reading” month celebrating literacy. A “Closing Circle” is a structure in Responsive Classroom in which the community comes together for three purposes: reflection, celebration, and closing. We reflected on the month of reading, celebrated our “golden ticket” winners and the Student Council book swap fundraiser, and closed with a read aloud of the book A Child of Books by Sam Winston and Oliver Jeffers. Thank you again to Mrs. Husstege for helping to lead out “Lincoln Loves Reading” month, our PTO for purchasing our schoolwide books, and our staff, students, and families for their enthusiasm and participation. Keep reading, Lincoln Lions!

I ask for your support in being mindful of the start time for the school day. In the past few weeks, I’ve noticed an increase in students being tardy for school, which begins at 8:50 am. I thank you in advance for your cooperation. As a parent myself, I know it can be difficult at times to get the children up and ready for school; however, it is important for them to start the day on time for Morning Meeting with their classmates, which sets the tone for the school day. If you need any support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher. Thank you again for your support!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
