Lincoln Logo

Dear Parents/Guardians,

October is in full swing here at Lincoln as we see the leaves changing color and falling, the temperature starting to drop, and the school community adjusting to the 2026-2027 school year. October also means, of course, that the Fall Festival is just around the corner! We welcome students and families to join us on the Lincoln School fields right after school next Friday for the Festival, and enjoy games, a petting zoo, activities, pumpkin raffles, seasonal snacks, and more. Thank you to our amazing PTO for planning what should be a terrific afternoon. Please note that students must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. We hope to see you there!

Thank you to the Lincoln PTO, the Book Fair chairs , and all of our parent volunteers and staff for assisting us with this year’s Fall Book Fair. We had a terrific response to the Fair. There is nothing better than getting new and exciting books in the hands of our students. Keep reading, Lincoln Lions!

On Wednesday, October 21st, the Lincoln School Student Council invites the entire Lincoln pride to wear PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please join us and be "ALL IN" for this important cause!

The first “Wyckoff Connected Parent Night” of the school year will be held on October 22nd at 7:30 pm, here at Lincoln School. The workshop, entitled Leaping Forward as Literacy Learners: Supporting your Kindergartener at Home, will be led by Lincoln Reading Specialist Mrs. Barbieri and Lincoln Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Lacasse. This session is intended for the parents of early primary students looking to support their child’s growth in emergent literacy. Please click here to view the flyer for this event.

Please note that the Lincoln School photo retake date will be on Thursday, October 29th. Photo retakes will take place at 10:30 am. The photographer will retake pictures of those students who were absent on the original School Photo Day, or by specific parent request. Please email Mrs. DiMeglio at mdimeglio@wyckoffschools.org if your child will be taking a photo retake by Wednesday, October 28th.

The Lincoln School Halloween parade will be held on Friday, October 30th, at 2:30 pm. Parts of the costume that can be safely worn, allow students to engage in learning, participate in recess/PE, and use the restroom, may be worn to school in the morning. Other costume attachments and accessories, or costumes that cannot be easily and comfortably worn throughout the day, should be brought in a bag and students may change prior to the parade. Please be mindful of appropriate and safe costumes, and note that toy guns, knives, weapons, etc., are not permitted. We hope you can join us for this fun tradition here at Lincoln School!

We are very excited to announce that actor and author Henry Winkler, as well as his co-author Lin Oliver, and Caldecott-winning illustrator Dan Santat will be coming to Lincoln School next month! Henry and his team will be speaking with the entire school about their latest fully illustrated chapter book series, Detective Duck. Huge shoutout to our favorite bookstore, Bookends in Ridgewood, for arranging this awesome opportunity. Families have the chance to order autographed books; please see the flyers in this week’s Friday Folder. Each book will be autographed by all three authors. Please note the deadline of Monday, October 19, 2026. Please email Mrs. Husstege with any questions.

For planning purposes, our Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on November 9th and 16th. The conferences will run from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on November 9th, and 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on November 16th. Teachers will email an electronic signup form after school on Wednesday, October 21st. If you do not receive an email please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher. Links to sign up for all specialists and special area teachers will be shared as well. We look forward to collaborating with parents and families throughout the course of the school year on the progress of your child here at Lincoln School.

Finally, 2025-2026 NJSLA score reports will be mailed out on Friday, October 23rd, to all students who were in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade last school year. Please be sure to review the letter that will accompany this mailing, which will explain the score report as well as provide guidance for parents on its interpretation.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee

Principal
