Dear Parents/Guardians,
The school year is in full swing as we complete the final full week of September! Students are focused on learning, teachers are delivering engaging lessons as they learn more about their students, and positive classroom communities are being established. I’m so proud of the start of the school year, and grateful for the support of our families as we work collaboratively to ensure a positive school experience for our students.
We were treated to a special morning meeting on Thursday with a visit from the character “Dog Man” of the beloved series by author Dav Pilkey. One of our staff members graciously agreed to dress in the “Dog Man” costume (I wonder if our students have any guess who it was!), and students had a fun time learning about the characters in the series, doing a variety of “Dog Man” moves, and hearing the winners of the Media center raffle for “Dog Man” prizes. Special thanks to Mrs. Husstege for planning the morning meeting, our PTO for supplying the raffle prizes, and Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood for providing the costume for the event.
The Lincoln PTO is sponsoring a “Lincoln Family Movie Night” on Friday, October 2nd, with a showing of the film Madagascar! The movie will be held in the gymnasium. This event, free of charge, will be a great kickoff to the year and an opportunity for families to come together for a fun night out. The “doors open” at 6:30, with a 7:00 start time. Bring your own beach blankets if you’d like, and popcorn will be served. Families are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles and no mess snacks (light nut free snacks that will not cause staining of the gym floor). This event is free for Lincoln students and their families!

September is recognized as NJ School Attendance Month. As you know, punctual and regular school attendance is a critical factor in predicting student success, and is crucial to students remaining on track with their academic growth. Please make every effort to schedule flexible appointments, when possible, outside of school hours to allow for students to be in school and engaging in learning activities with their classmates. In addition, please note that students should be in classrooms by 8:50 in order to be considered “on time.” We begin promptly at 8:50 am with Morning Meeting activities, and being on time allows students to acclimate into the school day and prepare for a busy day of learning. Thank you in advance for your support, and if you have any questions regarding attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Our online "Friday Folder" is a depository of important notices, flyers, and letters from the school and Wyckoff community. Please be sure to check the list of Friday Folder documents, which is included in each weekly E-Blast, and carefully read those that are pertinent to you and your child(ren). There is a link in each E-Blast to the electronic Friday Folder, which can also be accessed at any time through the Lincoln School website. If you need hard copies of any document on the Friday Folder, do not hesitate to reach out to the front office and we will be happy to print them for you.
