Dear Lincoln School Community,

This past Tuesday, our 5th Grade Advanced Instrumental Band performed a terrific winter concert under the direction of Mr. Weidman and Mr. Vetrero. There were two performances, with students in grades K-3 enjoying the first show, and students in grades 4-5 as well as families and guests being treated to the second show. I am always impressed with the talent as well as evidence of hard work by our students in preparation for the concert.

Next week, we welcome acclaimed children’s author Rosemary Wells back to Lincoln School! Rosemary will be doing special sessions for students in all grades over two days on Wednesday and Friday, with focuses on both writing and illustrating. I would like to thank our Lincoln PTO for their support of the return of Rosemary Wells, as well as Mrs. Husstege for planning these exciting days for our students.

Please see the section below regarding the Lincoln School Science Fair, which will take place on Wednesday, March 18th from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Lincoln gymnasium. Thank you to Mrs. Joudeh for helping coordinate this year’s Fair. I look forward to seeing many of our grade 3-5 students participating and sharing their knowledge and passion for science!

The next Family Connection Series presentation sponsored by the Wyckoff Curriculum Council will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd at 7pm at Eisenhower Middle School. This session, entitled "Raising Resilience," will explore resiliency--what it is, the factors that contribute to resiliency, and how parents can grow resiliency in their children. Please click here to sign up. In addition, there is a Connected Parent Series presentation entitled “Supporting Your Child with Math Anxiety at Home.” This event, which is hosted by Kathleen Moschella, Math Specialist, and Beth Lancellotti, School Psychologist, is tailored to parents of students in grades K-5. It will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, in the Sicomac Multi-Purpose Room. Please click here for the flyer and to sign up.

We still have a number of clothing items in the Lost and Found. There will be a table in the hallway outside the gymnasium during tonight’s Grade 1 and Grade 3 Kids Nights, if you would like to stop by and take a look!

Please note that there will be no school on Monday, January 19th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. As we commemorate the life of Dr. King, I reflect upon a quote of his that reads: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” Thank you for partnering with our staff as we work each day towards this goal, and for your continued support and collaboration.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee

Principal
