Dear Lincoln School Community,
Our third through fifth grade students were treated to a visit from the Ramapo High School Marching Band on Wednesday! They entertained our students and staff with a number of pieces, and also shared their stories of hard work, dedication, and passion. It was great to see so many former Lincoln Lions in the marching band.
Thank you to our parents and teachers for a successful round of Parent/Teacher Conferences over the past two weeks. Communication between school and home is vital to each student’s success, and I appreciate your flexibility as we adjusted the calendar to provide time for our staff to meet with you and discuss your child’s progress. Please know that you can always reach out to our staff or to me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress here at Lincoln School.
The Lincoln School Student Council will again be hosting the “Golden Pencil”' fundraiser next week to help purchase gifts for a needy child this holiday season, through the Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity. Please click here for more info!
As we head into the month of December, we have a number of wonderful upcoming events. Please note some of the important dates listed below, including the 1st and 2nd Grade Holiday Vocal Music Program, the Holiday Mall, and the Grades 4 & 5 Holiday Choral Concert.
As a reminder, Wednesday, November 26th is a minimum day, with a 1:05 dismissal. Kindergarten students will have lunch, as they do on all minimum days; however, PTO Pizza Lunch will not be served, so please be sure to pack a lunch for your Kindergarteners.
As you know, attendance is a critical part of a student's success in school. Of course, there are instances in which an absence is unavoidable (and as a parent of three high schoolers I empathize with you in regards to illness or needing to schedule appointments during school hours), but I thank you for being mindful of the value of regular school attendance. The state of New Jersey reports on school attendance yearly, identifying the percentage of students at each school who are "Chronically Absent." This term refers to students that are absent at the end of the year (for any reason) more than 10% of the days that school in session (this would be 18 in a typical school year). As we recently passed the 50th day of school, and to help keep parents informed on the attendance of their child, today I mailed notifications to parents if their child has been absent 10% or more of the school year to date. I will do the same several additional times during the year to help keep the lines of communication open between school and home. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
