Dear Lincoln School Community,
It was a very Happy Halloween today at Lincoln School! Thank you to all who joined us for the annual parade and enjoyed the wonderful afternoon. Our Lincoln School staff was decked out as sailors, as we “SEAS’d the Day!” Thank you also to those who assisted with our classroom festivities during the day.
As a reminder, Chris Grabenstein book orders are due on Monday, November 3rd. Due to the time constraints with placing orders from the bookstore, late orders will not be able to be accepted. Please send in order forms and payment to Mrs. Husstege in the library. The forms are attached here for your convenience. Please see Chris Grabenstein order form and book descriptions,
Parent-Teacher Conferences
By now, you should have arranged a time and date for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher. Special Area teachers are also offering Conferences on both November 10th and November 17th. Please click here for a Google Doc with more information and links to access the Special Area teachers’ signup calendars. Conferences with Special Area teachers may be done virtually or in person. Please note that several staff members will be located at different schools on the two dates; however, you may attend conferences on either date.
Here are some reminders and guidelines on how you can make the most out of your upcoming conference:
● Parents should enter via the main entrance and sign in at the office. Please be prompt and contact your child’s teacher immediately if you have to reschedule. If you arrive late to a conference it will necessitate a shorter conference as our teachers are on a very tight schedule and don’t want to cut into anyone else’s conference time.
● Prior to the conference, think about any questions you might have and consider emailing the teacher ahead of time so he/she can be prepared to discuss your questions.
● Fall conferences are a time to discuss progress to date and map out goals for what’s ahead. It’s only November, so your child should be approaching grade-level standards and may not have mastered them at this time. Be realistic about their goals, celebrate what your children are doing well, and share a growth mindset for what’s ahead.
● If you have questions that you know will go beyond your allotted time, respectfully request that you have a follow-up phone call.
Keep the lines of communication open with your child(ren)'s teachers and the school throughout the year. It is when we communicate, collaborate, and work together that we see tremendous student growth and progress.
Most importantly, don’t forget to celebrate with your child after the conference. Have a conversation with your child to let them know how proud you are of them and share goals and anything you hope to do to continue supporting their growth as a partner with the school. We look forward to seeing you all at the November conferences!
As a reminder, there is no school for the students on Monday, November 10th due to Parent/Teacher conferences. In addition, November 17th is a minimum day (1:05 pm dismissal) and November 18th is a delayed opening (10:20 am start time).
Please note that schools will also be closed on Thursday, November 6th and Friday, November 7th for the NJEA Teachers Convention.
In November 2025, grade 4-8 students will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments-Adaptive field test administration for English Language Arts and Mathematics, aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. This assessment, which will not be scored, will be used by the state to select test items for the NJSLA assessment in the Spring. In accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education’s mandate for statewide participation, Wyckoff Public Schools is required to participate in this field testing. Please see this letter from our Assistant Superintendent, Grace White, for more information.
As a reminder, Daylight SavingsTime begins this Sunday. Please remember to turn your clocks back an hour.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
