Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Lincoln PTO is sponsoring a “Lincoln Family Movie Night” next Friday evening, October 3rd, with a showing of the film Under the Boardwalk! The movie will be held in the gymnasium. This event, free of charge, will be a great kickoff to the year and an opportunity for families to come together for a fun night out. The “doors open” at 6:30, with a 7:00 start time. Bring your own beach blankets if you’d like, and popcorn will be served. Families are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles and no-mess snacks (light nut-free snacks that will not cause staining of the gym floor). This event is free for Lincoln students and their families! Please note that this is not a drop-off event. Click here for a flyer for more details.
Lincoln School Photo Day has been rescheduled to our rain date of Tuesday, September 30th. We look forward to seeing our Lincoln Lions smiling for the camera next Tuesday! Please click here to view the flyer. Please see the schedule for Photo Day.
Next week is also National Walk and Bike to School Day! We are encouraging our Lincoln Lions to walk, bike or scoot to school on Wednesday, October 1st, to join the nation in an event to promote physical activity and safety in neighborhoods near schools. There will be “refueling stations” at the bike rack and behind the school for all participants, as well as a chance to win a Lincoln Lion. Join your classmates and school children around the country and walk, bike or scoot to school!
The family report for the first iReady diagnostic assessment for students in grades 1-5 is available for viewing on your student’s iReady portal. This can be accessed via Classlink. You will need your student’s username and password, which can be found on the Genesis Parent Portal. Click here for information and instructions on accessing the result. Please note that this is the first iReady diagnostic assessment of the school year, and should be interpreted as a “beginning-of-year” assessment. According to iReady, the goal is for your child to meet or exceed grade level expectations by the end of the school year. Therefore, many students are approaching the expectations for the current grade level at this point, as they are just beginning the year and have not received instruction on the content. iReady creates a personalized learning plan, termed “My Path,” based upon the student’s diagnostic, to address areas for growth. We are focused on tracking growth over time, with the goal of meeting grade level expectations by the third diagnostic in the Spring. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or your child’s teacher.
As a reminder, dogs and other pet animals are not permitted on school property in accordance with District Policy 7490. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and property. Please ensure that dogs are not brought to the campus, particularly during school hours or at dropoff or pickup. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, it is greatly appreciated.
September is recognized as NJ School Attendance Month. As you know, punctual and regular school attendance is a critical factor in predicting student success, and is crucial to students remaining on track with their academic growth. Please make every effort to schedule flexible appointments, when possible, outside of school hours to allow for students to be in school and engaging in learning activities with their classmates. In addition, please note that students should be in classrooms by 8:50 in order to be considered “on time.” We begin promptly at 8:50 am with Morning Meeting activities, and being on time allows students to acclimate into the school day and prepare for a busy day of learning. Thank you in advance for your support, and if you have any questions regarding attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
The Wyckoff Education Foundation is hosting their third annual “Color Run” tomorrow, September 27th at Eisenhower Middle School. On site registration time is at 9:30 am, and the run begins at 11:00 am. I hope to see many of you there, where you can see me get “blasted” with color!
Please click here for an important letter from Mrs. Doidge, school nurse, in reference to Lions Club vision screening for grades 2 and 4.
Finally, as a reminder, all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Thursday, October 2nd in observance of Yom Kippur.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
