Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today, our students in grades K-2 were visited by acclaimed children’s author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, who penned the Max & Ruby series as well as many other works. Rosemary talked with students about her process for illustrating and writing, and read to them as well. She inspired and awed our students with her knowledge and passion. I am most grateful to Mrs. Husstege for planning the event, and to Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood for providing the author visit!

Thank you to all of our parents who attended our annual “Back to School Night” this past Tuesday night! I hope that the evening gave you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s) and learn more about the terrific work we are doing here at Lincoln School. We truly value the home-school connection, and look forward to a wonderful year of collaboration.

Thursday, September 25th, is School Photo Day at Lincoln. We look forward to seeing all of our students looking their best and smiling for the camera! Please click here to view the flyer from Rod Bolten Photography. Please see the schedule for Photo Day.

As a reminder, dogs and other pet animals are not permitted on school property in accordance with District Policy 7490. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and property. Please ensure that dogs are not brought to the campus, particularly during school hours or at dropoff or pickup. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, it is greatly appreciated.

September is recognized in New Jersey as School Attendance Month. As you know, punctual and regular school attendance is a critical factor in predicting student success, and is crucial to students remaining on track with their academic growth. Please make every effort to schedule flexible appointments, when possible, outside of school hours to allow for students to be in school and engaging in learning activities with their classmates. In addition, please note that students should be in classrooms by 8:50 in order to be considered “on time.” We begin promptly at 8:50 am with Morning Meeting activities, and being on time allows students to acclimate into the school day and prepare for a busy day of learning. Thank you in advance for your support, and if you have any questions regarding attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Our district will again use an online milk payment method.  Payment must be made using PaySchools Central, or by check. If you are not already registered for PaySchools Central, you may do so by logging on to www.payschoolscentral.com and selecting “Register” and following the prompts.  Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID#, which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture. If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org. We will also accept checks for payment that can be sent in through the school to the front office and made out to the Wyckoff Board of Education. Milk is offered to grades K-5 daily. You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk options are 1%, skim, and chocolate.  Please indicate your choice. Milk will begin Monday, September 15th.  The total cost is: $110.00 for the school year. Fees may apply for credit card and checking account transactions.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Crank at 201-848-5720 X 2202, or jcrank@wyckoffschools.org.

The Wyckoff Education Foundation is hosting their third annual “Color Run” on Saturday, September 27th at Eisenhower Middle School. On site registration time is at 9:30 am, and the run begins at 11:00 am. I hope to see many of you there, where you can see me get “blasted” with color!

Our online "Friday Folder" is a depository of important notices, flyers, and letters from the school and Wyckoff community. Please be sure to check the list of Friday Folder documents, which is included in each weekly E-Blast, and carefully read those that are pertinent to you and your child(ren). There is a link in each E-Blast to the electronic Friday Folder, which can also be accessed at any time through the Lincoln School website. If you need hard copies of any document on the Friday Folder, do not hesitate to reach out to the front office and we will be happy to print them for you.

Please click here for an important letter from Mrs. Doidge, school nurse, in reference to Lions Club vision screening for grades 2 and 4.

Finally, as a reminder, all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Tuesday, September 23rd  in observance of Rosh Hashanah. For all those observing Rosh Hashanah next week, I wish you L’Shanah Tovah!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
