Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that this email finds you and your family well, and that you are enjoying the last days of a happy and healthy summer. It has been a busy summer at Lincoln School, and we are excitedly preparing for the return of our Lincoln Lions! Special thanks to our terrific custodial and maintenance departments for their hard work in cleaning and preparing our schools for our opening.

As our students and staff return, you may notice an addition to our campus—the playground and Kindergarten blacktops have been transformed with colorful and creative painted designs by Yellow Door Art Studios. Thanks to the incredible support of the Lincoln School PTO, our students will now have an even more vibrant and engaging space to play and learn. I cannot wait to see our students' faces light up when they see this new part of our school!

As a reminder, the first day of school is on Wednesday, September 3rd. Our typical school day is from 8:50 am until 3:20 pm, with supervision beginning at 8:35 am. The first three days of school (September 3rd through 5th), however, are minimum days. Our minimum days begin at 8:50 am, with dismissal at 1:05 pm. Additional information and specifics regarding the opening of the school year, including drop-off and pickup procedures, will be provided to parents in a second E-blast newsletter prior to the first day of school on September 3rd.

On Tuesday, September 2nd, at 2 pm, we invite our incoming Kindergarten students and their parents to our annual "Kindergarten Orientation." Parents and students will meet on the Kindergarten blacktop to the right of the awning next to the main parking lot, where our teachers will greet our students and begin their year together as a class, spending some time in the classroom. I will meet with parents/guardians during the orientation, which should last approximately 45 minutes. Also on September 2nd at 12 pm, our new students in grades 1-5 are invited to our “New Student Buddy Pizza Lunch,” which will be held in our Multi-Purpose Room. Students, accompanied by a parent or guardian, may enter through the main entrance. I will also meet with our new parents during the lunch, which should last for approximately 45 minutes. Thank you to Mrs. Soriano, our School Counselor, for organizing a fun afternoon for our new students.

In addition to welcoming new students, we welcome several new staff members to Lincoln School. Mrs. Jane Crank joins us as the Budget Secretary in the main office. Ms. Zoe Clark joins the Lincoln faculty as a 4th grade  teacher, and Ms. Maralle Arakelian will serve as a leave replacement teacher, beginning the year in 2nd grade. Mr. Brett Carroll joins us as a Physical Education teacher, accompanying Mr. White in the PE department. Mr. Carroll will work with students at both Lincoln and Washington Schools. In addition to these teaching staff members, we will also have several new instructional and lunch/recess aides at Lincoln School this year, including Mrs. Daniella Cohn, Mrs. Nicole DePreta, Mrs. Kristin Vander Pyl, and Mrs. Tracy Cutola. Welcome to all of our new Lincoln Lions - staff and students alike!

Please note that the Genesis parent portal will be open for parents to view homerooms at approximately 3 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. All parents must log on and fill out the respective school form for each child prior to being able to see their child’s homeroom. The form must be completely filled out and submitted for ALL children prior to viewing any tabs on Genesis. One of the forms that must be selected is for either “escorted” or “unescorted” dismissal. Please note that traditional dismissal in which the teacher brings students outside to be dismissed is termed “unescorted.” “Escorted” dismissal requires the student to be dismissed from the main office, and signed out by a parent or guardian. If you have any questions regarding the dismissal selection, please reach out to the main office.  New families will be receiving their Genesis parent portal logon information in a separate email from the IT department prior to the opening of the parent portal. Please note that the Genesis parent portal login address has changed, and is now: https://parents.c3.genesisedu.net/wyckoff/sis/view?gohome=true. You may want to update any bookmarks on your devices to the new address to ensure access to the parent portal.

Our PTO has updated their communication system this year, moving to the app “GroupSpot.” If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to view the flyer sent earlier this summer with information on the new app. Simply download the GroupSpot app, create an account, and use the following link to register: https://get.groupspot.app/jmtTV. Once you register, you will be prompted to pay the $25 annual PTO dues to access everything the PTO GroupSpot platform has to offer. The PTO asks that families register by September 5th to remain enrolled in GroupSpot. On behalf of Lincoln School, thank you to our PTO for all of their tremendous support of our school and community!

Finally, as the summer draws to a close, I am reflecting on our theme for the upcoming school year: "Seas" the Day! This theme encourages our students to take advantage of the opportunities that each day has to offer. By embracing our core values, they have the power to "make it a great day" for themselves and our entire learning community. Please enjoy the remaining days of summer, and I will be in touch soon with additional information before our first day of school on September 3rd!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
