Dear Lincoln School Community,
This past week, our 5th grade began a celebration of the culmination of their elementary school experience with a wonderful trip to Spring Lake Day Camp in Ringwood, NJ. They had an amazing time coming together as a class for a day of fun in the sun, enjoying activities such as zip lining, paddle boats, basketball, arts & crafts, rock climbing, swimming, gaga ball, and much, much more. I was even able to join in the fun, and may have zip lined a few times! Thank you to our 5th grade trip chairs, Ms. McGuire and Mrs. Salsberg, for planning such a terrific experience, our PTO for their generous support of the trip, our staff for their supervision and participation in the day, and our 5th graders for being such awesome representatives of Lincoln School!
We had a number of fun trips for other grade levels this week as well! Despite the rainy weather on both days, our 3rd grade had a blast at Turtle Back Zoo, while our 4th grade made memories with a class trip to Ellis Island. Thank you to our teachers for planning such terrific experiences for our students, and our parent chaperones for their assistance in making these trips possible.
Thank you to all who came out on Monday afternoon to the Lincoln Community Peace Garden’s 7th Annual “Spring Planting.” We had a great turnout of students across different grade levels who planted a variety of vegetables and herbs, as well as painted rocks, to enhance our garden. Thank you to Mrs. Swanson, our PTO, and our parent volunteers for their tremendous work in getting the garden up and running. Thank you also to Mr. Castellano for a fun Family Art Night this past Thursday. Students and families engaged in a collaborative project, and enjoyed making art together.
We look forward to seeing many of our families at the 5th grade’s production of the musical Willy Wonka on Thursday, May 29th. The matinee for students will be held at 2:00 pm, and the evening show for families and guests will be held at 7:00 pm in the Lincoln School gymnasium. In addition, our 4th and 5th grade Spring Instrumental Band Concert will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd. Please click here to view the invitation. Performances of the Spring Instrumental Band Concert will also be at 2:00 pm for students and 7:00 pm for guests. Please note that the evening performance of the Band Concert will be held at Eisenhower Middle School.
The spring “Bike and Walk to School Day” for all students and the annual “Bike Safety Rally” for grades 3 and 4 are both scheduled for Wednesday, May 28th. Please be sure that your child’s bicycle is in good working order and that they have a well fitting helmet. There will be a series of obstacle course stations for our 3rd and 4th graders in addition to a safety assembly by several Wyckoff Police Officers.

In addition, please click here for a signup sheet for our “Collaborative Family Art Night” scheduled for Thursday, May 22nd. This is an interactive evening for families to come together to make art. Our Art Show, where student artwork will be displayed, is scheduled for Thursday, June 12th.
We are looking forward to Field Day next Friday! Please see the reminders below from Mr. White and Mr. Cornetta:
Wear appropriate sneakers.
Bring a water bottle.
Apply sunscreen/bug spray before coming to school.
Be dressed in their team color (RED or BLUE).
As the end of the school year is rapidly approaching, we are busy inventorying our Media Center. Mrs. Husstege and I ask that all library books are returned by Friday, May 30th. Please contact Mrs. Husstege with any questions. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please note that all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
