Dear Lincoln School Community,
Bravo to our 4th and 5th grade chorus, who put on two terrific performances on Thursday of their holiday show entitled “Be the Joy!” Thank you to Mrs. Panzitta for her terrific direction of our singers, as well as our students for sharing their talents with the Lincoln community. Thank you also to all of our parents, grandparents, and friends who joined us for this special event.
On Friday, December 20th, our Student Council is once again sponsoring a holiday spirit wear day. Students and staff are invited to wear their fun winter PJs, a silly holiday sweater, Grinch gear, or simply come decked out in holiday colors and glitz! We will also hold our monthly schoolwide morning meeting on Friday, and come together as a Lincoln School community for one final time in 2024. Please note that December 20th is a minimum day for all students, with a 1:05 pm dismissal. No lunches will be served for gr. 1-5. Kindergarten students, please feel free to bring both a lunch and a snack.
Report cards for the first marking period are available for viewing on Genesis today, December 13th, at the end of the school day. Please know that report cards are intended to be a way to communicate with parents how their child is progressing towards meeting the grade level standards for a particular subject area. Learning is a continuum, and there will inherently be areas of strength and areas of growth for each individual student. Given that we utilize a standards-based report card, the indicators provide a context for whether the student is meeting, exceeding, or progressing towards a standard. Oftentimes, there are one or two benchmarks in a given subject area that a student is still working towards meeting. This should be met with an open, growth mindset, and a feeling that the student just hasn’t met the standard yet, but is working towards it. Please refer to the information about standards-based report cards, including the benchmark links for each subject area, on our website. As always, we value the home-school connection, and look forward to continued collaboration throughout the school year. Finally, please note that parents must acknowledge the “Standards Based Report Cards Form” in their Genesis account prior to being able to access their child's report card. If you have any difficulty accessing the portal, please email our Genesis help desk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
