Lincoln Logo

Dear Lincoln School Community,

It was a very Happy Halloween yesterday at Lincoln School! Thank you to all who joined us for the annual parade and enjoyed the beautiful yet unseasonably warm weather. Students and staff were decked out in creative costumes for the occasion, with our staff doing a play on words of our school theme as we donned bee costumes and highlighted how to “BEE” the change! Thank you also to those who assisted with our classroom festivities during the day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

By now, you should have arranged a time and date for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher. Please feel free to reach out to any special area teacher or other staff member via email to set up a separate conference with them. The Staff Directory can be found here

Here are some reminders and guidelines on how you can make the most out of your upcoming conference:

● Parents should enter via the main entrance and sign in at the office. Please be prompt and contact your child’s teacher immediately if you have to reschedule. If you arrive late to a conference it will necessitate a shorter conference as our teachers are on a very tight schedule and don’t want to cut into anyone else’s conference time.

● Prior to the conference, think about any questions you might have and consider emailing the teacher ahead of time so he/she can be prepared to discuss your questions.

● Fall conferences are a time to discuss progress to date and map out goals for what’s ahead. It’s only November, so your child should be approaching grade-level standards and may not have mastered them at this time. Be realistic about their goals, celebrate what your children are doing well, and share a growth mindset for what’s ahead.

●  If you have questions that you know will go beyond your allotted time, respectfully request that you have a follow-up phone call.

Keep the lines of communication open with your child(ren)'s teachers and the school throughout the year. It is when we communicate, collaborate, and work together that we see tremendous student growth and progress.

Most importantly, don’t forget to celebrate with your child after the conference. Have a conversation with your child to let them know how proud you are of them and share goals and anything you hope to do to continue supporting their growth as a partner with the school. We look forward to seeing you all at the November conferences!

As a reminder, there is no school for the students on Monday, November 11th due to Parent/Teacher conferences. In addition, November 18th is a minimum day (1:05 pm dismissal) and November 19th is a delayed opening (10:20 am start time).

Please note that schools will also be closed on Thursday, November 7th and Friday, November 8th for the NJEA Teachers Convention.

The District will be having an Emergency Broadcast System Test this weekend. We will be testing our emergency broadcast system this Sunday at 7 p.m. Please contact the main office next week if you don’t receive a call, a text and an email on Sunday night. Also, don’t forget the clocks turn back!

Finally, I would like to wish a very Happy Diwali to all those in the Lincoln School community who are celebrating!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
