Dear Lincoln School Community,
October is in full swing here at Lincoln as we see the leaves changing color and falling, the temperature starting to drop, and the school community adjusting to the 2024-2025 school year. October also means, of course, that the Fall Festival is just around the corner! We welcome students and families to join us on the Lincoln School fields right after school next Friday for the Festival, and enjoy games, a petting zoo, activities, pumpkin raffles, seasonal snacks, and more. Thank you to our amazing PTO for planning what should be a terrific afternoon. Please note that students must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. We hope to see you there!
In honor of our visitor for next week’s Author Day, students and staff are invited to show their “Stacy McAnulty” spirit by wearing BLUE and GREEN next Thursday, October 24th. This is in support of her books entitled Earth, Our Planet, and Ocean, as well as several of her novels. Please click here to view the dress letter.
Please note that school photo retakes will be taking place on Friday, November 1st, at 10:00 am. The photographer will retake pictures of those students who were absent, who are new to the district, whose eyes were closed or who had hair in their face for the photograph, or for those parents who personally contacted the photographer requesting a retake. Please email Mrs. DiMeglio at mdimeglio@wyckoffschools.org if your child will be taking a retake picture by Wednesday, October 30th.
The first “Connected Parent Night” of the school year will be held on October 23rd here at Lincoln School. The workshop, entitled Leaping Forward as Literacy Learners: Supporting your Kindergartener at Home, will be led by Lincoln Reading Specialist Mrs. Barbieri and Lincoln Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Lacasse. This session is intended for the parents of Kindergarten students looking to support their child’s growth in emergent literacy. Please click here to view the flyer.
The Lincoln Halloween parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st, at 2:30 pm. Parts of the costume that can be safely worn, and allow students to engage in learning, participate in recess/PE, and use the restroom, may be worn to school in the morning. Other costume attachments and accessories, or costumes that cannot be easily and comfortably worn throughout the day, should be brought in a bag and students may change prior to the parade. Please be mindful of appropriate and safe costumes, and note that toy guns, knives, weapons, etc., are not permitted. We hope you can join us for this fun tradition here at Lincoln School!
You should have received an email from your child's homeroom teacher to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 11th and 18th. If you have not received an email, please reach out to your child’s teacher. The Staff Directory can be found here.
Finally, just a gentle reminder to please be mindful when you are exiting Lincoln School parking lot to both Mason Avenue and Lucas Lane. With the weather still seasonable, many of our young students and families walk or ride to school. Please drive slowly and carefully, and remain alert for pedestrians. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
