Dear Lincoln School Community,
Thank you to all of our parents who attended our annual “Back to School Night” this past Tuesday night! I hope that the evening gave you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s) and learn more about the terrific work we are doing here at Lincoln School. We truly value the home-school connection, and look forward to a wonderful year of collaboration.
The Lincoln PTO is sponsoring a “Lincoln Family Movie Night” tonight, with a showing of the film Migration! The movie will be held in the gymnasium due to the rainy weather yesterday and possibility of more tonight. This event, free of charge, will be a great kickoff to the year and an opportunity for families to come together for a fun night out. The “doors open” at 6:30, with a 7:00 start time. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs if you’d like, and propcorn and water will be served. Please note that this is not a drop-off event. Click here for a flyer for more details. I look forward to seeing many of you tonight!
We are looking forward to a visit from children’s author Andrew Larsen on Monday, September 30th! Please click here to view the Andrew Larsen dress letter, and put on that green and blue to welcome our special guest.
Lincoln School Photo Day has been rescheduled to our rain date of Tuesday, October 1st. We look forward to seeing our Lincoln Lions smiling for the camera next Tuesday! Please click here to view the flyer.
Next week is also National Walk and Bike to School Day! We are encouraging our Lincoln Lions to walk, bike or scoot to school on Wednesday, October 2nd, to join the nation in an event to promote physical activity and safety in neighborhoods near schools. There will be “refueling stations” at the bike rack and behind the school for all participants, as well as a chance to win a Lincoln Lion. Join your classmates and school children around the country and walk, bike or scoot to school!
We are excited to announce that award winning children's author Stacy McAnulty is coming to Lincoln School for Author Day! Stacy will be spending the day at Lincoln on Thursday, October 24! Stacy is the author of more than thirty books for children, including picture books, novels, fiction, and nonfiction. You can check out her website here. As always, when a special author comes to visit Lincoln, families have the chance to order autographed books. Please note that the order deadline is Friday October 11, 2024. Book orders need to be compiled and handed in to ensure delivery and processing for the day of the visit. The welcome letter, order form, as well as book descriptions with recommended age levels are in the Friday folder. Thank you to our amazing PTO for their financial support in making this a reality. We are so grateful for a school community that embraces and supports these real-life learning experiences for our students. Please click here to view the order form.
Please click here for an important letter from Mrs. Doidge, school nurse, in reference to Lions Club vision screening for grades 2 and 4.
Intramural Sports permission slips were sent home with all 4th and 5th grade students. The permission slip will give your child the ability to choose to play all 3 sports. We are asking that all permission slips be returned by Friday, October 4th. Please click here to view the permission slip. Thank you so much for your cooperation, it is going to be a great year of intramural sports!
Finally, as a reminder, all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Thursday, October 3rd in observance of Rosh Hashanah. For all those observing Rosh Hashanah next week, I wish you L’Shanah Tovah!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
