Dear Lincoln School Community,
We are off and running at Lincoln School, as we had a terrific first full week of instruction. I have been able to visit each classroom multiple times throughout the week, as well as spend time with students at lunch and recess. I am so pleased with our wonderful start to the year, and I am grateful for our hardworking staff, our supportive families, and our engaged students. Today, we held our first Schoolwide Morning Meeting in the Lincoln gymnasium. We welcomed our new Lincoln Lions, shared our Hopes & Dreams for the year, and played a game of "Just Like Me." We also shared our Core Value for the month: Community. It was a great way to start the day!
As a reminder, our annual Back to School Night has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th. We invite you to join us for our classroom visits, whole-school presentation, and special area open house. Please see the schedule below, and note the times for our Gr. 3-5 and K-2 visits this year:

Thank you to all those that attended our first PTO meeting on Thursday, September 12th. It was a great turnout, and we hope to see many of you at our next meeting, scheduled for October 17th. The connection between our families and the school is critical to our students’ success, and I am so grateful for the support and collaboration of our PTO. Please join us in October!

ANDREW LARSON AUTHOR VISIT:
We are excited for our upcoming author visit from award winning children's author Andrew Larsen. Andrew's website is linked here if you would like to check it out. He is on tour for his newest true story picture book, Gifts from the Garbage Truck: a true story about things we don't throw away. The book is based on the life of NYC Sanitation worker Nelson Molina who collected and saved over 45,000 pieces of 'trash' over his years of service and now has a museum of his collection in NYC. Students will be learning about Larsen, his works, and also his newest book during media lessons leading up to this visit. If you want to check out the story behind the book's inspiration, I've linked Nelson's story here as well. Forms for autographed books are due FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 20th. No late books will be able to be accepted.
