Dear Lincoln School Community,
I hope that you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! On Tuesday, our staff returns to Lincoln School to prepare for the opening of school on Thursday, September 5th. Teachers and staff will engage in a variety of meetings and professional development on Tuesday and Wednesday in advance of the school year. I’m proud of all of our staff’s hard work and preparation for what I know will be an excellent school year. Tomorrow, we look forward to meeting our new students and families at our New Student Buddy Lunch. On Wednesday, we welcome many of our Kindergarten students and families at our Kindergarten Orientation. Thank you to Mrs. Soriano and our Kindergarten teachers for coordinating these special events. The Buddy Lunch, for new students in grades 1-5, will be held in the Multipurpose Room tomorrow at 12 pm. Families may enter through the main office door. I will meet with our new parents and guardians during this time. On Wednesday, our Kindergarten students and families will meet on the Kindergarten blacktop at 2 pm, where their teachers will greet them and bring our students to their new classrooms. I will then meet with Kindergarten parents and guardians during this time in the gymnasium. I look forward to seeing our newest Lincoln Lions tomorrow and Wednesday!
As you know, the first day for students is on Thursday, September 5th. This is a minimum day, with a 1:05 pm dismissal. Friday, September 6th, is also a minimum day, with a 1:05 pm dismissal. Please note some important information and reminders below:
School Hours
Regular Day: 8:50 am - 3:20 pm
Minimum Day: 8:50 am - 1:05 pm (No lunch for grades 1-5. Kindergarten students should bring lunch on minimum days. There is no Nicholas Market or PTO lunch service on minimum days.)
Delayed Opening Day: 10:20 am - 3:20 pm (Lunch served for all students grades K-5.)
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Supervision for students begins at 8:35 am. Please do not drop your student off prior to 8:35 am. As we did last school year, students will line up indoors each day, which is consistent with all elementary schools in Wyckoff. Students may enter through the door by the Kindergarten awning, adjacent to the sidewalk, or through the Gr. 3/4 or Primary Wing doors. From 8:35 - 8:40, students will line up, supervised, outside their classroom doors, and at 8:40 may enter the classroom to begin preparing for the school day. The school day begins at 8:50 am with Morning Meeting in each classroom.
On the first day of school, September 5th, however, students will line up outside and be greeted by their classroom teachers, who will bring them into the school building at 8:50 am. Indoor lineup will begin on Friday, September 6th. On the first day of school, Kindergarten students will line up on the K blacktop, grades 3 and 4 will line up outside the first entrance along the back driveway (outside the grade 3/4 classrooms), grade 5 will line up on the blacktop by the back basketball hoops, and grades 1 and 2 will line up outside the primary wing entrance adjacent to the path towards Rodney Road. There will be signs indicating the lineup spots for each HR.
On regular dismissal days, students will be dismissed from school at 3:20 pm. Kindergarten students will be dismissed out the door by the Kindergarten awning. Gr. 1 and 2 will be dismissed out the primary wing door by Rodney Road. Grades 3 and 4 will be dismissed out the Gr. 3/4 door along the back driveway (except 3M), and Gr. 5 and 3M will be dismissed out the door near the back of the media center.
Lunch/Recess
Gr. 1-5 students will eat lunch in the multipurpose room. Kindergarten students eat lunch in their classrooms. Nicholas Markets will return as a lunch vendor, and our PTO will offer Wednesday Pizza Lunch from Natale’s as well as bagels from Midland Park Bagels on Mondays and Jersey Mike’s subs on Thursdays. Information will be sent from our PTO and in our e-blasts about these two programs, which will begin shortly after the start of the year.

Finally, I am excited to begin another wonderful year at Lincoln School, and feel honored to serve as Principal. The school building is cleaned and gleaming, the classrooms are organized and prepared, and staff is energized and ready to welcome back our students. Have a wonderful remainder of your Labor Day, and I look forward to seeing our Lincoln Lions on Thursday morning!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
