Dear Lincoln School Community,
This past Tuesday, our 5th Grade Advanced Instrumental Band performed a terrific winter concert under the direction of Mr. Weidman and Mr. Vetrero. There were two performances, with students in grades K-3 enjoying the first show, and students in grades 4-5 as well as families and guests being treated to the second show. I was so impressed with the talent as well as evidence of hard work by our students in preparation for the concert. Our 5th grade instrumental band students also enjoyed a visit to Lincoln Center on Thursday to attend the New York Philharmonic Young People’s Concert! This was a wonderful and memorable experience for our musicians. Thank you to Mr. Weidman, Mr. Vetrero, and our chaperones for planning and supervising the trip.
Thank you to all who attended and helped organize the Lincoln Military Bridge game night last evening. I’m most appreciative of those who contributed baskets and helped to set up the event. It was a terrific evening of fun and community-building in support of our wonderful PTO. Congratulations to all those that walked away winners… maybe I’ll have better luck next year!
Winter is certainly in full swing here at Lincoln School! Between delayed openings and early dismissals, the weather has interrupted our schedule, yet our students and staff have worked hard to maximize their time together. As we head through the coming days and weeks, we will attempt to have our students go outside for recess as much as possible, provided the temperature is above freezing and the grounds are safe from ice and moisture. Please be sure to have your students bundle up accordingly, as we know they benefit (physically and mentally) from being outdoors. Fingers crossed for more mild days ahead.
