Dear Lincoln School Community,

Thank you to all of our parents who attended our annual “Back to School Night” this past Tuesday night! I hope that the evening gave you an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s) and learn more about the terrific work we are doing here at LIncoln School.  We truly value the home-school connection, and look forward to a wonderful year of collaboration.

Thank you to Mrs. McCahill, Mrs. Salsberg, our PTO, and all of our parent volunteers and staff for assisting us with this year’s Fall Book Fair. We had a terrific response to the Fair, and even held an evening Book Fair on Back to School Night. There is nothing better than getting new and exciting books in the hands of our students. Keep reading, Lincoln Lions!

This year at Lincoln School, we are highlighting a different “Core Value” each month. During the month of September, our core value is “Responsibility.” We share these core values during our Words of Wisdom, in our classrooms, and throughout the school building. Each week, we select a trait that corresponds to this core value and helps define it for our students. The trait this week that went along with the core value of “Responsibility” was “Self-Control.” A quote that supported the trait this week was, “Do something today that your future self will thank you for” - Sean Patrick Flanery. Thank you for supporting our Core Values by discussing them with our students at home as well!

Our District will be offering an online method as well as payment by check for yearly milk orders and recorders. Payment may be made by using PaySchools Central.  If you are not already registered for PaySchools Central, please click here and follow the prompts.

Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID # which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture. If you have  difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org. The options for purchasing are:

Milk

Milk is offered to grades K-5 on a daily basis .  You can purchase milk for the entire year.  Milk began on Monday, September 18th.  The total is $110.00.  If paying by check, please make it payable to Wyckoff Board of Education and indicate the type of milk (1%, Skim or Chocolate) and your child’s grade level in the “Memo” section.  CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Recorders

Students in Grade 3 learn to play the recorder.  The recorder is a real instrument that is used as part of the 3rd grade music program throughout the district and will be useful in teaching the fundamentals of music and reading and ear training.  The cost of the recorder is $5.00.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Garofalo at 201-848-5720 ext. 2202 or email her at dgarofalo@wyckoffschools.org

Please click here for an important letter from Nurse Doidge in reference to the Lions Club vision screening for grades 2 and 4.

You may have noticed that the crosswalks in the parking lot have been repainted after the paving work was completed at the end of the summer. Please be mindful of using these crosswalks (and encourage your children to do the same) when moving from the parking lot to the sidewalk, both in the morning as well as in the afternoon at dismissal. Likewise, please be alert when driving through the lot. The safety and wellbeing of our students is my utmost priority, and I thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Finally, as a reminder, all Wyckoff schools will be closed on Monday, September 25th, in observance of Yom Kippur. I extend my best wishes for an easy fast to those who are observing in the Lincoln School community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal
