Dear Lincoln School Community,
We are off and running at Lincoln School, as we had a terrific first full week of instruction. I have been able to visit each classroom multiple times throughout the week, as well as spend time with students at lunch and recess. I am so pleased with our wonderful start to the year, and I am grateful for our hardworking staff, our supportive families, and our engaged students. Today, we held our first Schoolwide Morning Meeting in the Lincoln gymnasium. We welcomed our new Lincoln Lions, shared our Hopes & Dreams for the year, and played a game of "Just Like Me." We also shared our Core Value for the month: Responsibility. It was a great way to start the day!
As a reminder, our annual Back to School Night has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th. In addition to our classroom and whole-school presentations, the Fall Book Fair will be open for parents to shop throughout the evening. Thank you to our PTO for coordinating this year’s Book Fair! The schedule for the evening, which will run from 6:30 pm until 8:40 pm, is as follows:
6:30 pm - 7:15 pm - Grades K-2 Classroom Presentations; Grades 3-5 Special Area “Open House” Visitation, visit to Book Fair
7:20 pm - 7:50 pm - Presentation by Mr. Lee - Gym
7:55 pm - 8:40 pm - Grades 3-5 Classroom Presentations; Grades K-2 Special Area “Open House” Visitation, visit to Book Fair
Next Wednesday, September 20th, is School Photo Day at Lincoln. We look forward to seeing all of our students looking their best and smiling for the camera! Please click here to view Rod Bolten’s Flyer and click here to view the schedule for picture day.
Our District will be offering an online method as well as payment by check for yearly milk orders and recorders. Payment may be made by using PaySchools Central. If you are not already registered for PaySchools Central, please click hereand follow the prompts.
Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID # which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture. If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org. The options for purchasing are:
Milk
Milk is offered to grades K-5 on a daily basis . You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk will begin on Monday, September 18th. The total is $110.00. If paying by check, please make it payable to Wyckoff Board of Education and indicate the type of milk (1%, Skim or Chocolate) and your child’s grade level in the “Memo” section. CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Recorders
Students in Grade 3 learn to play the recorder. The recorder is a real instrument that is used as part of the 3rd grade music program throughout the district and will be useful in teaching the fundamentals of music and reading and ear training. The cost of the recorder is $5.00.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Garofalo at 201-848-5720 ext. 2202 or email her at dgarofalo@wyckoffschools.org.
Thank you to all those that attended our first PTO meeting on Thursday, September 14th. It was a great turnout, and we hope to see many of you at our next meeting, scheduled for
October 12th. The connection between our families and the school is critical to our students’ success, and I am so grateful for the support and collaboration of our PTO. Please join us in October!
Please click here for an important letter from Mrs. Doidge, school nurse in reference to Lions Club vision screening for grades 2 and 4.
Please note that PTO pizza lunches will start on Wednesday, September 27th and Jersey Mike’s will start on Thursday, September 28th.
You may notice that the crosswalks have been repainted in the parking lot after paving work that was completed at the end of the summer. Please be mindful of using these crosswalks (and encourage your children to do the same) when moving from the parking lot to the sidewalk, both in the morning as well as in the afternoon at dismissal. Likewise, please be alert when driving through the lot. The safety and wellbeing of our students is my utmost priority, and I thank you in advance for your cooperation!
For all those observing Rosh Hashanah, I wish you L’Shanah Tovah!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Patrick Lee
Principal
